Wedding Day Munch Trail Mix

Wedding Day Munch Trail Mix

Eight years ago this month, the afternoon of my sister-in-law’s wedding day. My sister-in-law and I sat on the balcony of her room watching the waves and munching on Cheerios™. I know what you are thinking. Why are you eating Cheerios™ right before the wedding?

Funny story. My brother and sister-in-law were married on a cruise ship on the evening of the “day at sea” (the second day of the cruise). The first day of the cruise, the cruise stopped, in Nassau, Bahamas. Hubs and I got off the boat, and we walked around the Famous Straw Market. As we were strolling through the Straw Market, I spotted an adorable little straw bag with pink piping and with Minnie Mouse on the front. It was love at first sight for me. It was just the sweetest little accessory for my little niece.

My niece was a little over one- year- old at the time of the wedding. She was glued to her little baggie of Cheerios™. I thought that she could put her baggie of cereal in this adorable little pink piping straw bag with Minnie on the front. She loved it, and her mommy put her little baggie of cereal with the top open in her new straw bag. She was a happy, little, fashionable lady.

The next afternoon, before the wedding my sister-in-law and I were sitting on her balcony overlooking the ocean. We watched the waves and watched for dolphins while we waited for our turns to get our hair done. We got hungry and how could we leave the room and risk being “seen” hours before the wedding. We couldn’t and we didn’t.

My sister- in- law to the rescue! She had a box of Honey Nut Cheerios ™ in her room for a snack for her one-year-old daughter, my niece. We munched on dry cereal and enjoyed the moments of calm before all the wedding craziness. Looking back on it, I could have ordered room services or something, but neither one of us thought of it.
