Hurricanes are a part of life here in America. There are some things that you can do and keep on hand so you are ready when a storm strikes. Hurricanes are unpredictable and can change tracks on a moment’s notice. It’s best to create a Hurricane Kit each year and keep it handy in case you need it. It is something that you can assemble before the start of the hurricane season and keep tucked away.
We use a plastic tote with a cover. In the summer before hurricane season, we assemble it and test all the flashlights, radio, and fire extinguishers to make sure they work. I then stock up on supplies. If we have a hurricane, I know we are ready. If we don’t get a hurricane by the time hurricane season ends, I have extra items for when we need them. Stay safe! Everything you need to stay safe.
