Plan a Calmer December: The Merry Mindset and The Bright Mindset Planners
It’s the middle of October, which means two things. Christmas is just over ten weeks away, and Hanukkah begins at sundown on Friday, December 4, less than eight weeks from now. If your stomach just did a little flip, you’re not alone.
The holidays are supposed to be the good part of the year. But for a lot of us, they arrive with a long invisible to-do list: the gifts, the food, the cards, the parties, the guest room, the budget, and the quiet pressure to make it all look effortless.
That’s why I created two planners: The Merry Mindset for Christmas and The Bright Mindset for Hanukkah. They’re built on one simple idea: decide what matters first, then plan the rest.

Why start with mindset, not a to-do list?
Most holiday planners jump straight to checklists. I wanted to start somewhere else. Before you write a single gift idea, both planners ask you to slow down and answer a few honest questions:
- What matters most to me this season?
- What am I saying yes to, and what am I letting go of?
- How will I protect my peace?
- Where is the gap between what I expect and what’s realistic?
Ten quiet minutes with those pages makes every other decision easier. When someone asks you to host, bake, attend or volunteer, you already know your answer.

The Merry Mindset: a Christmas planner for more joy and less pressure
The Merry Mindset is a 65-page planner with seven parts:
- The Mindset: your priorities, boundaries and expectations vs. reality.
- The Gifts: gift list, budget tracker, gift ideas, sizes and preferences, shopping, wrapped, shipping and returns trackers, plus stocking stuffers.
- The Food: recipe organizer, family favorites, menu planner, grocery list, baking planner and potluck tracker.
- The Memories: a family Christmas bucket list, movie list, traditions, lights to see and memory pages.
- The December Plan: a monthly calendar, weekly pages, events, Christmas cards, to-do list and important dates.
- The Holiday Life: hosting checklist, party planner, guest list, outfit planner, self-care and a social battery tracker, because we all have one.
- The Reset: a look back at what was meaningful, what wasn’t, and what you want to carry into the new year.
The Bright Mindset: a Hanukkah planner for all eight nights

Hanukkah has its own rhythm, so The Bright Mindset isn’t a Christmas planner with the names changed. It’s a 68-page planner with the same calm approach and pages made for the holiday:
- An eight nights of gifts planner for big gifts, small gifts or none at all.
- A menorah nights log to remember who lit, what you sang and the moments you don’t want to forget.
- A latkes and sufganiyot planner, a menu planner and a potluck tracker with room for kosher and dietary notes.
- A tzedakah tracker to plan your giving with the same care as your gifts.
- A menorah and supplies checklist that includes the candle count, so you’re not searching for matches on night three.
- A December calendar with the eight nights marked, plus an “eight nights at a glance” page.
- The same Mindset, Holiday Life and Reset sections as the Christmas planner.
Hanukkah 2026 begins at sundown on Friday, December 4 and ends at nightfall on Saturday, December 12. Candle-lighting times vary by location, so check yours and write it in.
Print it, or fill it in
Every download includes two PDFs:
- A print-ready PDF for pen-and-paper planners. Print the whole thing, or only the pages you need, and reprint your favorites like gift lists and memory pages.
- A fillable PDF you can type into on your computer. Click a line, type, tick the boxes, and save your own copy.
A few practical notes: both files are US Letter size (8.5 × 11 in), and the fillable version works best in Adobe Acrobat Reader or another desktop PDF reader. Many tablet apps like GoodNotes and Notability let you write on the print version with a pen. Some phone and browser viewers don’t show fillable fields.
Start in 15 minutes
You don’t have to fill in every page. Here’s an easy way to begin:
- Fill in the Mindset pages first. Five minutes, no editing.
- List the people you’re buying for on the gift list, with a total budget.
- Put the big dates on the calendar: events, deadlines, and the last day to ship.
- Pick one section to ignore. Seriously. Take what works for you and make it your own.
You don’t have to do it perfectly. That’s the point.
Celebrating more than one holiday?
If your household celebrates both, the December Holidays Bundle gives you both planners in one download: 133 pages, with print and fillable versions of each (four PDFs in total).
