Creating Space in the New Year

Creating Space and De-Cluttering

De-cluttering is that one thing we can all use to do. It’s that one thing, I’m sure we’re all guilty of put it off. Leaving it on the bottom of our giant to do list conveniently skipping over it.

Create space in our homes, our lives, and in our work can be difficult. A good purge does a body, mind and soul good. This year, one of my goals is to create space, de-clutter, and minimize the stuff. All kinds of stuff, clothes, books, toys, papers, anything not touched in the last year. It’s time to part ways and park two cars in the garage. I’m getting rid of at least 2016 pieces of stuff, hopefully more, at least five items a day. Obviously, if I can sell certain items I will.

Creating a more organized less stuff environment. Sounds amazing doesn’t it? Moving 3 months ago helped, but I think de-cluttering needs to be a constant. Being conscious and aware if what you bring into your space and trying to find something to purge. I think de-cluttering has been harder with kids because the toys and the growing out of clothes seem never ending. However, I’m finding it’s a fantastic teaching opportunity to teach Little Dude about donating and purging.

You are so right! I returned from holiday vacations and faced a bedroom that was full of mounds and mounds of piles and drawers and closets that were cluttered, that I have been avoiding for months. I started cleaning that room and I feel so proud and relieved. Space, order and cleanliness feels so peaceful! I have more work to do, but I have donated, repurposed or discarded quite a lot! Thanks for your awesome tips and motivation. I’m pinning and sharing.

I am right there with you – I did a big declutter a few years ago, and I’ve done well at not bringing things in, but I feel like I can continue to pair things down! I like the 5 a day, seems very reasonable, and something I can just check off my list!

      Yes! It isn’t bad.
